I created this blog to keep the people I love up to date on my life. I will try to update it weekly! If that doesn't happen remember that I am busy and will do the best I can!

Computer-suckage

My computer is being stupid, it has some sort of virus plus practically no RAM and then some other problems which all boil down to: too much trouble to use it that often...

I don't think that I'll be blogging at lunch anymore, it took about 15 minutest to start up just now, and I won't have that time at lunch...

My mom and I are going to call DELL when she comes down for Thanksgiving but until then, that is why I'm not updating this...

*luv ya!

3rd day lunch break

While in Core (the first stage where you learn everything) I have an hour long lunch. Once I get out of core and into the next to steps (where you practice, and work on clients) I'll only have 1/2 hour. I'm not sure what I'll be eating then.

Most of the people in my class don't live close enough to the school to go home for lunch, but seeing as I have a 1.4 minute walk I plan on going home most days (besides the fact that I don't have time to pack a lunch, or the money to buy lunch everyday)

I'm on lunch break right now, I had some turkey and now I'm having a bit of peppermint icecream!
It's 1:15 right now and I have to be back in class at 1:40 so I think I'll leave in 15 minutes...

But today so far has been really cool. I love the atmosphere and the people.

Dana my main Learning Leader is an amazing woman. She had four kids (all boys) with her husband of 18 years. Her oldest boy died last year in a car crash.
She was pregnant with him in High school, so she married his father. While she was pregnant she had a "premonition" or whatever you'd like to call it that the son she carried then wouldn't have a full life. She decided to make the most of what he had. He was her support system and encouraged her divorce and their move to Provo.
He was driving home from an all night Baseball tournament with 6 other guys in the car, wasn't paying attention and hit head on with another car. No one else lost their lives. He died on impact, but was flown to the hospital and donated his heart, pancreas, both kidneys and his liver.
Dana lives with no regrets, she loves her life and wake each morning with a smile.

A lot of what Paul Mitchell teaches has more meaning that just with cutting hair, but really good life lessons...

I'm excited to get to know all the staff and my peers more!

2nd Day of Core

I think that I will plan on a (mostly) weekly update on Saturday or Sunday when I have some breathing time...

Today was really fun, though the things we did weren't all that fun in themselves but the atmosphere and the people are amazing!!
I love my two learning leaders (teachers) There is Dana and Grace, they are the kind of people you can't help but love and only a stone-faced dead person wouldn't smile within minutes of talking to them.

we took lots of notes on the anatomy of the skull and hair itself... we took notes on a few procedure things.

Then we learned how to shampoo/head massage. We got into pairs (I went with Diana who is a pretty cool girl, but will be done with school in January :'S so hopefully I'll make another friend)
then we were taught the "Paul Mitchell" blow drying technique.

Paul Mitchell doesn't give "homework" but rather "home-play" Tonight the assignment was to make a creative presentation of what we want to achieve in the next 15 months... I choose 10 words and wrote them in cool fonts with Sharpies (I'm pretty impressed with myself for it being after 11:30 when I started) Also we are to read the first two chapters in our "connecting to my FUTURE: A learning and Planning guide to salon professionals" book, which I think I will do right now..

g'night, I'll write more later (hopefully)

Paul Mitchell DeJoria

today I started school, it was pretty good... it is 11:30 and I just finished my homework (listening to an interview with two of the schools founders/leaders) and need to go to bed.
My goal for this blog is to keep the people who care to know about my school life up to date. I'm not promising much because I only have a few hours of freedom a day (in which to eat, shower, do laundry, grocieres and the like)

Today was fairly uneventful. All the leaders introduced themselves and then the 20 new students introduced themselfs (20 people, three guys. around 10 eighteen year old girls just out of highschool, around five mothers, 4 people over 25)

We got our kits (brushes, combs, scissors, clippers and trimmers, blow dryer curling iron, shelby maniquin heads etx.) and they set up a christmas tree and preteneded that it was Christmas while we opened our kits and looked at all our stuff. (I think I'll get some pictures of the things I got up here soon)

I think I'll go to bed now....
